&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;This pattern makes female size small gloves. Right-hand and left-hand gloves are knitted the exact same way. Join, and:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;k2, p2 rib for 8 rows.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Knit in stockinette for 3.5 inches, or to desired length.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Knit 5 sts onto waste yarn, return 5 waste yarn sts to left hand needle, knit sts using regular yarn.  Continue in stockinette for 13-14 rows.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Using two stitch holders, preserve the stitches somewhat evenly, with the front ends facing toward the waste yarn/thumb.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Turn piece so that the wrong (purl side) is facing outwards if it is not.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Forefinger:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Redistribute the first 8 sts (the five above the waste yarn sts plus 3 more), plus  4 sts from the other end (for 12 sts total onto 2 or 3 dpns.  This will be the forefinger.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Continue in stockinette where you left off.  When you reach the gap, CO two more sts, for a total now of 14 sts.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Continue knitting in the round to fit your forefinger, decreasing by k2tog at even intervals once or twice along the finger column if necessary.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you reach desired length, k2tog at the beginning and midpoint of each row until 8 sts remain.  Bind off using three needle bind off.  Slip yarn ball through the loop after the last stitch, and move on to the next finger.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Middle finger:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Same as forefinger, except take next 5 sts off of each stitch holder and pull 2 sts from the forefinger base, for 12 sts total.  Take yarn from the end of the forefinger, as if you are starting a new ball of yarn.  CO two sts at the gap, for a total of 14 sts (as before).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Ring finger:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;Same as middle finger.  (Except you pull 2 sts from middle finger base, obviously.)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Pinky:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;8 sts remain.  Distribute onto 2 dpns, and pick up 2-3 sts from the ring finger base.  Work in the round as before.  When decreasing at the tip, decrease until 6 sts remain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Thumb:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;Pick up stitches above and below waste yarn (10) and remove waste yarn.  Pick up an additional four stitches.  Work in stockinette for approximately 2.5 inches, or desired length.   &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;k2tog at the beginning and midpoint of each row until 8 sts remain.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;Bind off using three needle bind off.   Cut 4 inch tail and pull through to close loop.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sew in ends, turn inside out, and block with thumbs on opposite sides to make a matching pair.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;font-size:85%;" &gt;© Stephanie Sun, 2008. With a tapestry needle, sew the bottom edge closed and sew in ends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Create a 4-inch long i-cord. I experimented a little before coming up with this design.  It uses a weave pattern for the body.
